About The Position

CGI is looking for an Android developer to join a large scale digital development project. This candidate will serve as a technical expert, working with both on-shore and off-shore developers. The developer will collaborate with Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts, Scrum Masters, and Technical Managers. This role requires experience with tools like Android Studio, Gradle, Git, Postman, Firebase, and Google services, along with strong programming skills and experience using design patterns like MVVM. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and a passion for technology. This position must be filled from client sites in Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, or Cleveland, OH. Employer sponsorship for immigration-related visa and/or green card status as part of the PERM process will not be available for this role.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience with mobile development.
  • 5+ years of experience in Android development.
  • 4+ years of experience in Rest APIs and API Authentication.
  • Good experience working with design patterns like MVVM.
  • Experience working with tools like Android Studio, Gradle, Git, Postman, Firebase and Google services.
  • Working experience in Industry Standard protocols related to API Security including OAuth is a must.
  • Strong design and programming skills using layouts & Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong background working with Android tech stack including libraries like Retrofit, GSON, RxJava, Kotlin coroutines etc.
  • Knowledge in databases, rules, and CRUD operations.
  • Strong agile/scrum experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Builds Android applications by implementing UI/UX designs based on wireframes or mockups.
  • Ensures responsiveness and performance across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Debugs and resolves issues related to performance, crashes, or user experience.
  • Participates in Agile/Scrum meetings and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Communicates technical challenges and solutions effectively with the team.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.
  • Displays an innovative approach to apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.
