About The Position

Performs all duties and functions in relation to the scheduling of patients and coordination of the resources required to be able to perform said procedures. Effectively communicates with staff, providers, and patients. Reports directly to the Lead Scheduler under the direction of the Director.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and diagnostic imaging examinations is preferred.
A team player with proven success in applying a team approach to resolve issues and accomplish goals; ability to independently with minimal supervision and as a part a team; ability to interact effectively and in a timely manner with a wide variety of constituents.
Ability to communicate medical terminology accurately in both verbal and written form.
Demonstrates proper phone etiquette and is always courteous and respectful towards patients, referring providers and staff, as well as the ability to handle multiple phone calls and schedule changes, remaining professional at all times and leading by example.
Maintains a good working relationship with staff, providers, and various departments of the hospital.
Maintains a clean, well-organized and properly stocked area.
Monitors office equipment and reports any malfunctions.
Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to support departmental needs and participates in projects or assignments as directed.

Responsibilities

Reviews and validates all imaging orders to ensure accuracy of diagnosis, referral, authorization, and dates of service.
Corrects and updates orders/referrals/authorizations as needed, maintaining clear, professional communication with patients, providers, and support staff.
Accurately transcribes and schedules imaging exams within assigned department; maintains expected scheduling volume based on department needs.
Provides expert-level scheduling and order management in at least one assigned department while maintaining cross-training and support for others as needed; accurately schedules imaging procedures, ensuring correct modality, preparation, and resource coordination.
Effectively communicates instructions to patients regarding exam preparation, arrival/check-in times, and post-exam expectations or any limitations that may impact patients.
Screens patient charts for allergies, required labs, blood thinners, or other prerequisites as applicable including prior imaging requests.
Works collaboratively with department managers, technologists, radiologists, and other applicable resources to ensure continuity of care.
Accommodates urgent or same-day scheduling requests efficiently and courteously
