About The Position
Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for outpatient medical record documentation. Documentation includes medical, diagnostic, and procedural information used to assign the correct ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 HCPCS codes. The primary coding responsibility covers Diagnostic/Clinical, Emergency Room, Recurring, and Specimen patient types. This position is remote/work from home.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One or more of the following certifications required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A, or CPC-H.
Nice To Haves
- Coding experience preferred.
- Coding Certificate program accredited by AHIMA preferred.
- Experience coding at a multi-facility organization is a plus.
- Remote coding experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Review outpatient medical record documentation and analyze it using appropriate coding guidelines and criteria.
- Assign correct ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 HCPCS codes based on medical, diagnostic, and procedural information.
