About The Position

Harris Health is seeking an Anatomic Pathology Supervisor to lead laboratory operations at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. In this leadership role, you will supervise the daily operations and performance of the Histology, Cytology, Transcription, Morgue, and Frozen Section areas while ensuring the delivery of high-quality laboratory services. Responsibilities include overseeing technical operations, personnel management, workflow optimization, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. You will also perform bench duties as needed while mentoring staff and supporting continuous process improvement to ensure accurate and timely pathology services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Histotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • ASCP certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL), Histotechnician (HT), or Cytotechnologist (CT)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, or Cytotechnologist
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience, including staff scheduling, performance management, variance reporting, procedure development, and problem resolution
  • Above Average Verbal communication skills (heavy public contact)
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills (public speaking)
  • Strong written communication skills (correspondence and reports)
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and computer applications
  • Analytical abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of leadership and laboratory operations management
  • Knowledge of Microtome, Automatic Stainer, Automatic Slide Coverslipper, Tissue Processor, and Cryostat equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) equipment preferred
