About The Position

The Anatomic Pathology Molecular Testing Coordinator will provide logistical, operational and administrative support for molecular and cytogenetic Testing within the Department of Anatomic Pathology. The Anatomic Pathology Molecular Testing coordinator will serve as a central point responsible for processing Molecular and Cytogenetic testing requests, ensuring accurate case review, timely specimen handling, appropriate documentation and efficient communicate between all parties involved. The position is well-suited for a detail-oriented candidate who wants to work directly with patient data and play an essential role in delivering patient care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-2 Years work experience in Administrative, Healthcare or science based
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications, which may include Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and process molecular and cytogenetic requests for both internal and external reference laboratories.
  • Review pathology reports and supporting documentation to determine next steps within the molecular testing workflow.
  • Complete molecular and cytogenetic collection questions based on review of pathology reports and testing requirements.
  • Review and verify test requisitions for insurance purposes and ensure ordering criteria is met before molecular testing.
  • Track and monitor the status of molecular and cytogenetic testing results to ensure timely processing and result reporting.
  • Obtain and manage reports from outside performing labs and ensure accurate documentation within Epic system.
  • Upload molecular reports and related documents within the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Record any case materials leaving the department and track return. Maintain organized spreadsheets to ensure proper tracking.
  • Retrieve and prepare slides/blocks according to departmental priorities for consultation, conferences, tumor boards, teaching, additional in-house testing and send-out testing to outside facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory personnel, clinical staff, and outside facilities regarding case status, specimen requirements, and other testing coordination.
  • Ensure all workflows are completed in accordance with departmental policies, laboratory regulations, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining organized records, databases, and workflow processes to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
