About The Position

This position provides general support for the Anatomic Pathology function. The role involves managing slides, laboratory records, and client communication, ensuring efficient operation within the department. Successful candidates will handle various administrative and logistical tasks related to anatomical pathology services.

Requirements

1-year related experience preferred
Knowledge of basic computer functions
Data Entry skills
Good clerical, organizational, phone and communication skills
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
Frequent walking and/or standing.
May be required to use a wide variety of manual tools and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity
Lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.

Responsibilities

Filing and retrieval of slides as requested
Electronic recording of slides into Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Mail handling and distribution within the department
Storage of laboratory records according to established record management protocol
May load/unload slides onto the Focal Point instrument
Print/Collate History Match
Manage process for requesting recuts, special stains and immunohistochemistry stains
May participate in QA/QC support activities
May contact clients to request additional information
May handle incoming calls, responding in a professional and timely manner
Other duties as assigned
