About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a web developer to join our Analytics Web Systems team. This role will focus on developing and supporting .NET applications and integrations that connect AWS-hosted services and data with on-premises systems. The company offers a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities, with the potential to work from home up to 3 days per week after initial in-person training. This role is based in Lansing, Michigan, and is not a fully remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong professional experience developing applications using C# and .NET
  • Experience developing backend services, REST APIs, or system integrations
  • Professional experience developing or supporting applications in AWS
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design and modern software development best practices
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably SQL Server
  • Experience with automated testing, Git, and CI/CD practices
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, SAM, Terraform, or similar tools
  • Experience with containerized .NET applications, serverless or event-driven architectures, API security, or production application monitoring

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services using C# and .NET
  • Develop and support integrations between AWS services and on-premises applications, APIs, and databases
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and service-to-service integrations
  • Develop and support .NET applications using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and IAM
  • Troubleshoot application and integration issues across AWS and on-premises environments
  • Work with SQL Server and SQL-based data integrations
  • Implement secure and reliable application communication using appropriate authentication, authorization, secrets management, logging, error handling, and resiliency patterns
  • Write automated tests and develop clean, maintainable code within a shared codebase
  • Work with Infrastructure as Code to deploy and maintain AWS resources
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with developers, platform engineers, business partners, and other technical teams
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve application reliability, maintainability, and development processes
