About The Position

This internship focuses on empowering Zello's go-to-market team to answer their own data questions by improving the performance and usability of their data dashboards and reports. The intern will join the Data & AI team in Austin, reporting to the Head of Analytics, and will be responsible for rebuilding dashboards, creating self-service data topics, documenting analytics surfaces, and completing small analyses end-to-end. The role emphasizes real ownership and impact, with the goal of making data more accessible and understandable for non-technical team members. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience with analytics tools and processes, with a focus on documentation and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Ability to work about 20 hours a week on-site in Austin around class schedule through early December.
• Write your own SQL against a real database, joins and aggregations included, and you can debug a query that returns something surprising.
• Can explain what a number means to someone non-technical, and trace it back to where it came from.
• Check your own work, so when you hand something over you've already found the errors you were going to find.
• Have taken at least one project past what was assigned, and you can say what changed because you did.
• Write things down, so whoever picks up your work after you doesn't need to book time with you first.
• Already use AI tools for real work, and you verify what they give you instead of trusting it.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild and speed up dashboards in Omni, our BI tool, starting with the ones people complain about most.
• Build Omni topics so non-technical teammates can ask their own questions, then sit with those teammates and watch where the topic falls over.
• Write SQL against Snowflake to pull, check, and reconcile numbers, and read our dbt models to trace where a metric actually comes from.
• Take small analysis requests end to end: scope the question, pull the data, and come back with a recommendation rather than a spreadsheet.
• Document what you build and inventory what already exists, including the honest calls about which reports should be retired.
• Use AI tools, Claude included, to move faster on the routine parts, and check what they hand back before it goes anywhere.
• Show your work in team meetings, and say so when a number looks wrong.
