About The Position

The Analytics Engineer is the technical owner of Specialized Dental Partners’ Power BI reporting platform — responsible for building production-grade reports using industry-standard practices and for managing the entire reporting architecture end-to-end. This includes the Microsoft Fabric F64 capacity, OneLake and reporting domains, workspace structure, Power BI Gateway service, permission groups and row-level security, and the gold semantic model that powers every report.

Requirements

  • 4+ years analytics engineering or senior BI development.
  • Expert Power BI report development: advanced DAX, semantic modeling, Direct Lake/DirectQuery/Import, performance tuning.
  • Power BI Service administration: workspaces, deployment pipelines, RLS/OLS, tenant settings.
  • Power BI Gateway administration: installation, clustering, credential management.
  • Fabric F-SKU capacity management.
  • Strong SQL and dimensional modeling (star schemas).
  • Medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) experience.
  • Git, code review, and CI/CD for BI artifacts.

Nice To Haves

  • DSO, multi-site healthcare, or healthcare services experience.
  • Dental or medical RCM data: payor mix, AR aging, reimbursement.
  • Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Direct Lake, domains, Git integration).
  • Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Best Practice Analyzer.
  • Copilot for Power BI or Microsoft Data Agents.
  • M&A diligence or board reporting packs.

Responsibilities

  • Build production Power BI reports using industry-standard practices: clean visual design, performance DAX, optimized layouts, and consistent UX.
  • Deliver persona-based reports and Apps for Practice Managers, Operations, Finance, RCM, Executive, and Board audiences.
  • Apply SDP-branded themes, drill-throughs, mobile layouts, and accessibility standards.
  • Tune report and model performance against target load SLAs.
  • Manage Fabric F64 capacity: monitor CU consumption, remediate noisy workloads, forecast growth.
  • Govern workspace and domain structure (dev/test/prod, functional domains, app workspaces) and promotion pipelines.
  • Administer Power BI Gateway service: install, cluster, patch, manage credentials, monitor connections.
  • Own the security model: Entra groups, workspace roles, app audiences, RLS, and OLS under least-privilege.
  • Manage Power BI tenant settings, sharing policies, and audit logging.
  • Maintain a centralized KPI dictionary as the single source of truth.
  • Retire ad-hoc Excel and citizen-developer reports by replacing them with governed equivalents.
  • Manage citizen-developer reporting initiatives to ensure they are maintainable and distributed properly.
  • Implement Git source control and CI/CD for semantic models and reports.
  • Monitor Fabric Capacity Usage; retire low-value assets; improve adoption and performance continuously.
