About The Position

Purple Carrot is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join their mission-driven Data team. This role will collaborate with the Senior Analytics Engineer to build and maintain resilient, scalable data pipelines and company-wide data infrastructure. The goal is to empower employees to better understand, manage, curate, and analyze data relevant to their work. The Analytics Engineer will focus on maintaining and improving data pipelines, supporting data systems and analytics, and developing rigorous data products within their modern data stack. This position involves synthesizing feedback from various teams, translating data needs into reliable, well-documented solutions, and improving business insights and performance analysis.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in the data space as a senior data analyst, data analyst, analytics engineer, data engineer, or equivalent role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, information systems, business analytics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Able to commute to the Dedham, MA office 3 days per week.
  • Proficiency in SQL and dbt for data transformation, automation, and modeling.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using modern data stack technologies such as Git, dbt, Stitch, cloud data warehouses, or similar tools.
  • Strong background in data quality assurance, governance frameworks, and best practices for documentation.
  • Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Looker, Omni, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned workstreams while collaborating closely with a senior team member.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the implementation and maintenance of end-to-end data pipelines and infrastructure, from ingestion through transformation and analytics.
  • Develop, test, and optimize data models and data warehouse architecture with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ensure data quality through validation, monitoring, testing, and strong documentation practices.
  • Implement and uphold data governance standards, including data dictionaries, lineage, access controls, and clear ownership of business logic.
  • Build and maintain BI dashboards and reporting tools that help teams understand performance and make data-informed decisions.
  • Support occasional ad hoc and exploratory data analysis to help answer business questions and identify trends.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, pipelines, reporting logic, and key data definitions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Analytics Engineer and cross-functional partners to execute on defined workstreams within an established data framework.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as necessary.
