About The Position

The Analytical Technician processes customer samples by following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe practices. The position works with chemical hazards and involves light to medium physical work, including lifting and carrying 25 pounds for 25 feet. It reports to the Analytical Supervisor.

Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds for 25 feet.
Ability to work in conditions involving chemical hazards.
Ability to follow established SOPs, work instructions, and safe practices.

Responsibilities

Comply with the OHS Act and Regulations, Bureau Veritas Group policies and procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System policies and procedures, and applicable ISO standards.
Work safely and professionally, wearing appropriate attire and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Carry out analytical procedures in accordance with documented SOPs and other work instructions.
Monitor analytical instrumentation performance, including ICP-OES, AAS, CVAA, titrimetric equipment, balances, and microbalances, and maintain related records.
Calibrate and operate instruments and analyze samples using various analytical techniques.
Monitor weighing and digestion equipment to ensure it operates within defined parameters.
Weigh and digest samples for gravimetric, cyanide, selective leach, aqua regia, and four-acid determinations.
Maintain adequate inventory of consumable supplies, including standards, tubing, and glassware.
Prepare reagents and standards for instrument calibration and analysis and maintain related records.
Practice good housekeeping.
Communicate general laboratory issues to the Analytical Supervisor as appropriate.
Report deviations from documented procedures, unsafe conditions, and non-conforming work related to customer samples or test data to the Analytical Supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
