About The Position

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely testing of consumer products, reporting data, and writing technical reports. The role involves preparing, conducting, and investigating laboratory testing of consumer products using appropriate bench principles and controlled specifications. The technician will perform and evaluate analytical chemistry data, maintain test equipment, and ensure lab cleanliness. They will also need to access the latest revisions of standards, protocols, and test methods, and evaluate products for quality/safety issues with direction from senior staff. The role requires organizing and managing workload to meet laboratory turn-around times and client expectations, assisting with departmental projects, and compiling data for technical reports. Additionally, the technician will interface with senior staff for direction on compliance and standards, and identify/troubleshoot technical issues within a limited scope. Adherence to the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Quality System and providing feedback for improvements are also key responsibilities. The role requires following established Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures, and complying with management systems in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, conducts, and investigates a full range of laboratory testing of consumer products utilizing laboratory bench principles appropriate to the sample and its controlled specifications
  • Performs and evaluates analytical chemistry data using prescribed testing methods, testing instrumentation, reporting data, and writing technical reports
  • Maintain test equipment, supplies, lab cleanliness (and limited analytical instrumentation)
  • Knowledge of how to access the latest revisions of standards, protocols, and test methods, with direction
  • Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality / safety issues, with direction from senior staff in a limited scope
  • Organizes and manages workload to meet or exceed laboratory turn around time and client expectations
  • Assist in the technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projects as directed
  • Accurately compile data, prepare and review written technical reports in a limited scope
  • Interface with senior staff for direction on interpretations pertaining to compliance and standards
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in a limited scope with direction from senior staff
  • Adhere to the requirements of the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Quality System
  • Provide feedback to department manager regarding departmental systems, processes and recommendations for improvements and meeting department / quality objectives
  • Follow the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Comply with Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload
  • Evaluate test results data, with direction
  • Interpret and apply industry standards within a limited scope and with direction
  • Offer problem resolution, as applicable, for any client issues/questions identified, while aiming to enhance client satisfaction and improving client relations
  • Conduct verbal and written communications with internal clients regarding administrative and technical issues, with direction
  • Participate with senior staff in client meetings / visits, when appropriate
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in a limited scope
  • Consult with other technicians / engineers on various issues, seeking direction as needed
  • Write, train, implement and update lab procedures with direction from senior staff
