About The Position

Yokogawa is seeking an Analytical Systems Engineer with responsibility for delivering customer satisfaction through the application of specialized chemical engineering knowledge and professional judgment in the analysis, design, and implementation of analytical systems. This includes the use of advanced engineering tools and methodologies such as gas chromatographs, continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS), process gas analyzers, and sample conditioning systems. The role requires autonomous execution of complex engineering tasks, including the development and optimization of analytical strategies, integration with control systems, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The Analytical Systems Engineer acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in chemical process analysis, often leading technical decisions and providing engineering solutions that align with industry standards and client requirements.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline and 8 or more years of experience, or MS degree and 6 or more years of experience in the design and implementation of analytical systems in industrial environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical instrumentation, chemical process analysis, and integration with control systems.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as a technical expert.
  • Must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Yokogawa.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer specifications and process documentation to design and engineer analytical system solutions.
  • Apply engineering tools such as chromatograph configuration software, process simulation tools, and data acquisition systems to develop and validate analytical strategies.
  • Engineer and implement software and hardware enhancements to improve system performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Document engineering designs, system configurations, and validation procedures.
  • Conduct system testing, calibration, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize analytical systems, including sample handling systems, analyzers, and integration with DCS/PLC systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of analytical technologies, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Remain aware of overall project scope and guard against unintended scope creep.
  • Participate in project meetings and site visits as a technical lead or subject matter expert.
  • Participate in in-house and external training and learning activities as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Work cooperatively and efficiently as a member of a project team.
  • Understand and follow safe work practices and Yokogawa procedures (ISO, GES, Safety, etc.).
  • Perform other technical tasks as assigned.
