About The Position

This role provides key analytical data to Research and Development, Technical Service, and Supply Chain departments to support new product development, existing product optimization, process and raw material optimization, and the resolution of customer complaints. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field.
  • 3 years' laboratory experience in an industrial laboratory.
  • Ability to operate advanced analytical equipment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills with the ability to deliver results on schedule.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Additional academic experience may be considered in lieu of laboratory work experience.
  • A chromatography, specifically LC-MS, background is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the use of spectroscopy or various chromatography instruments preferred.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform both standard and novel laboratory tests using appropriate analytical instruments and methods.
  • Conduct pre and post-experiment calculations.
  • Prepare samples for testing.
  • Prepare detailed reports on test results.
  • Perform statistical analysis of data as required.
  • Interact with the AkzoNobel technical community (chemists, formulators, engineers) and Research and Development managers.
  • Attend cross-discipline meetings as required.
  • Contribute to personal growth by expanding knowledge of analytical instrumentation and theory through in-house training, attending training courses, or professional society meetings.
  • Conform with all site and laboratory safety requirements and policies.
  • Utilize generated data to solve customer or production problems and support research goals.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records on all projects.
  • Work across functions.
