State of Ohio
•$15 - $17•Hybrid

About The Position

The Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel (OCC), the State's voice for millions of Ohio residential utility consumers, seeks an Analytical Intern to support its mission of helping consumers, including at-risk and low-income Ohioans, with the affordability, reliability, and equitableness of electric, natural gas, telephone, and water utility services. OCC has worked since 1976 to achieve lower utility bills and more reliable utility service for residential consumers. The agency currently offers a flexible hybrid work environment. This is a part-time role; applicants seeking summer-only and/or school-year employment will be considered. The intern assists the Director of the Analytical Department and other OCC staff with analysis and research related to the agency's mission, including utility service costs and how those costs are collected among consumer groups. Work includes examining utility company accounting and financial records, reviewing current and prior utility rates, verifying utility data related to service reliability, marketing practices, and consumer-information protection, and drafting written data requests for research and analysis. The intern also helps prepare requests for proposals for consultant work, supports case and issue development by gathering and interpreting materials and preparing reports, and researches utility-related inquiries and issues raised by the General Assembly and the public. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug test. Newly hired employees must have compensation deposited directly to a financial institution. Applicants must provide details on the application form showing how they meet minimum qualifications and job duties; supporting documentation may be requested at interview. The State of Ohio is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides reasonable accommodations in accordance with the ADA.
