Analytical Chemistry Lab Assistant, Temporary, St Charles, IL
About The Position
Clarke is seeking independent, safety-focused and environmentally conscious individuals to step into an Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Assistant position at our St. Charles, IL location. This position is ideal for the self-motivated and detail-oriented seeking the reward of a challenging new role. Lab Assistants are responsible for supporting our Research Development & Engineering team with laboratory research projects. This includes the testing of mosquito formulations for various physical and chemical product properties. This opportunity is a temporary position that will last up to 10 months (or about 1,500 total hours of work).
Requirements
- Background in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology, with experience in Analytical Chemistry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record
- Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms
Nice To Haves
- Recent graduate from an accredited University or College preferred
- Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties in the field where environmental conditions are affected by weather
Responsibilities
- Perform analytical testing in support of R&D projects and objectives
- Assist in development and validation of new analytical methods
- Participate in data collection of GLP Studies. GLP Training will be provided
- Participate in small group meetings to foster critical thinking and sharing of new ideas
- Become proficient in various analytical methods, including the following techniques: Determination of Active Ingredient Content by HPLC, Sample Extraction and Clean-Up, Solution Preparation and Serial Dilution, Determination of Specific Gravity by Pycnometer, Determination of pH
- Perform daily calibration checks on analytical equipment (balances, meters... etc.)
- Document and communicate daily work accurately
- Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all times
