About The Position

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Analytical Chemist to provide for the needs of the analytical chemical laboratory related to the use of sound laboratory practices and methodologies to generate reliable analytical results that are used to control processes. This position is located at our Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company and one of the largest lead producers in the Western Hemisphere. Dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production, Doe Run has facilities in Missouri, Washington, and Arizona and operates one of the world's largest, single-site lead recycling facilities, located in Boss, MO. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in a lab setting.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Databases, and ERP (PeopleSoft).
  • Basic knowledge of analytical lab analysis best practices and processes.
  • Basic understanding of how to operate analytical lab equipment, including PMs, calibrations and standards.
  • Proficient understanding of method development and documenting standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of quality control standards to ensure accurate and precise testing results.

Responsibilities

  • Work with technicians to provide analytical results of various samples brought to the laboratory using defined volumetric, gravimetric, and/or instrumental methods.
  • Perform advanced sample analysis and assist with troubleshooting analytical or procedural issues as needed.
  • Provide technical guidance for calibration, instrument performance, and process optimization to ensure consistent, reliable results.
  • Conduct method development or test work to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of laboratory procedures.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
