We have an opportunity for an Analytical Chemist II to join our team. In this role, you will independently perform routine and non-routine analytical testing to support pharmaceutical products while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will work with chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods, interpret data, and contribute to method development and validation. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a science-related field with 2 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with 3 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
  • Associate degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or equivalent science degree with 4 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
  • Experience in a Catalent analytical laboratory in a role that is independent and proficient in chromatography, data review, troubleshooting, and technical understanding may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to lift 10-40 lbs unassisted.
  • Majority of the workday involves standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemicals and other active chemical ingredients.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform routine and complex testing using chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods (HPLC, GC, UV) for excipients, new chemical entities, and drug products.
  • Compare laboratory data against specifications and trend data to determine compliance with requirements.
  • Interpret data and provide recommendations to management for improvements or potential concerns.
  • Create report templates and enter data into established reports or software systems.
  • Author standard operating procedures, analytical testing procedures, and final submission-ready documents under general supervision.
  • Propose applicable specifications based on data obtained for certain programs with guidance.
  • Ensure proper usage, care, and return of calibration standards and instrumentation.
  • Follow method instructions and internal SOPs to ensure accuracy and prevent repeat testing or deviations.
  • Direct and assist in laboratory personnel training when required.
  • Evaluate and validate methods of analysis for chemical entities and drug product formulations under general supervision.
  • Assist with method development to ensure robustness and validation readiness.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between functional groups such as Quality Assurance and metrology when needed.
  • Conduct peer review of laboratory experiments for accuracy and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Maintain proficiency in electronic laboratory systems and perform supervisory sign-off for electronic reports.
