About The Position

EXPLEO GROUP CANADA is looking for a Senior QA Analyst, SDET – Payments, API & Event Testing to join our team in Montreal, QC (hybrid role). This role focuses on testing critical payment and transaction flows across APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven platforms like Kafka. You’ll design and execute test scenarios, validate integrations, manage defects, and help strengthen quality across the delivery lifecycle. Ideal for a hands-on QA professional with strong API, integration, and Agile testing experience.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of software quality assurance, API testing, integration testing, or quality engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with API testing, including validation of request/response behavior, integration points, data payloads, and transaction flows.
  • Experience testing event-driven architectures and messaging-based systems, including Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
  • Experience creating test cases, executing tests, analyzing results, and managing defects through resolution.
  • Strong understanding of integration testing and end-to-end business process validation.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize testing activities based on business risk and criticality.
  • Ability to work effectively with developers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Bilingual French and English communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Banking, financial services, or payments industry experience.
  • Experience testing payment processing systems, financial transaction platforms, or regulated environments.
  • Experience contributing to test automation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Java and/or Python.
  • Experience working with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and modern software delivery practices.

  • Previous experience working within large enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and execute test cases for banking and payment transaction flows across APIs, integrations, and event-driven systems.
  • Validate the quality, reliability, resilience, and testability of solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Test critical payment flows across distributed architectures, including API transactions, messaging platforms, event processing, and resulting business outcomes.
  • Develop and execute testing strategies across multiple levels, including API, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional testing.
  • Contribute to test automation initiatives where appropriate, including API, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Depending on team requirements, assist with the development and maintenance of automated test assets.
  • Use quality metrics, defect trends, and operational insights to continuously improve testing effectiveness and reduce delivery risk.
  • Identify and communicate technical risks, testing gaps, quality debt, and optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to embed quality and testability into solution design.
  • Track and manage defects, test execution activities, and quality metrics using Jira or similar tools.
  • Support ongoing improvement of QA, automation, and quality engineering practices across the delivery organization.
