About The Position

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is seeking an Analyst for its rapidly expanding Restaurant & Hospitality Finance (RHF) initiative within the Global Corporate & Investment Banking Group. The RHF team finances larger restaurant sector Franchisors, Operating Companies, and Franchisees, with a focus on Quick Service and Fast Casual national brands. The team also lends to mid-size hotel franchisees. The Analyst will be an integral part of the RHF team, assisting in the management of major client relationships by providing financial analysis, marketing, and operational support to Global Relationship Managers (GRMs). This role involves credit analysis on proposed deals, staying updated on client financing plans, and monitoring portfolio exposures. The Analyst will also handle operational aspects of business origination, including analyzing portfolio profitability, managing documentation, drafting pitch books, performing follow-through on deal origination, preparing economic capital analysis, and coordinating KYC.

Requirements

  • 1+ Year Corporate Banking related work experience is a decisive asset
  • Credit experience or background (e.g., a formal bank credit training program) is a plus
  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent required
  • Banking or related experience is preferred
  • PowerPoint Presentation skills
  • Experience with Excel modeling
  • Experience with Bloomberg
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Previous exposure to accounting and finance (classes) preferred
  • Understanding of Proactive, resourceful self-starter capable of rapidly learning new systems and processes and working effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver high-quality, clear, and concise presentations and memoranda with limited assistance
  • Capacity to consistently communicate professionally, tactfully, and effectively with clients, third party advisors, and colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a high-intensity environment and effectively manage/prioritize and deliver on multiple streams of workflow while maintaining high degree of attention to detail and accuracy in all respects

Responsibilities

  • Support business development alongside GRM(s), including industry research, marketing material production, and coordination with product areas.
  • Conduct due diligence related to prospective and existing clients.
  • Review new business opportunities and prepare materials for screening new deals with senior management.
  • Develop client marketing presentations and pitch materials.
  • Maintain the Salesforce Database.
  • Coordinate transaction closings with back and middle offices.
  • Attend client meetings to observe GRMs and develop working knowledge of relationship management.
  • Prepare call reports for GRM review when attending client meetings.
  • Assist with periodic senior management reporting, such as quarterly business updates, financial reporting, and annual account planning.
  • Undertake detailed new opportunity preliminary financial analysis and transaction diligence, including reviewing financial models and financial statements.
  • Review credit applications, including summaries of expected financial results and risk analysis.
  • Review and analyze transaction term sheets and documentation, focusing on credit features and covenants.
  • Manage processes required for compliance and execution, including profitability analysis, committee approvals, legal due diligence, KYC, and closing checklists.
  • Liaise with various product areas on GCIB transactions to develop knowledge of MUFG's product capabilities and integrate this into presentations and transaction memos.
