About The Position

The Analyst will support the Portfolio Management Group within Energy Banking Finance in the ongoing credit risk management, monitoring, and administration of a portfolio of corporate banking relationships. The role is responsible for performing credit analysis and due diligence, preparing credit and rating applications, monitoring portfolio risks, and ensuring adherence to applicable internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. In this role you will perform both traditional corporate credit and industry-specific analysis. You will work with large and small public companies and sponsor-backed companies, and reserve-based lending clients, in addition to other corporate energy borrowers. It is a very analytical role, but you are also continually developing judgment about what matters to a credit. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in finance, accounting, economics, business, or related discipline.
Approximately 2-3+ years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis, credit risk management, banking, or a comparable financial services function.
Strong knowledge of corporate credit analysis and credit risk management.
Strong analytical, financial analysis, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

Analyze the credit risk of assigned portfolio companies, evaluate financial condition and debt repayment capacity, determine appropriate credit ratings, and provide timely rating recommendations to management.
Conduct comprehensive due diligence, scheduled credit reviews, and detailed financial and credit analysis to maintain an accurate and current assessment of assigned borrowers.
Prepare high-quality credit applications and credit rating applications and coordinate with Relationship Managers, senior credit analysts, and relevant credit divisions to facilitate the approval process.
Prepare credit review reports for adversely rated credits, providing management and relevant credit divisions with timely information regarding borrower performance, financial condition, and other significant developments.
Perform credit control and portfolio management responsibilities as assigned by management, including participation in bank meetings and customer calls, preparation of call memoranda, and assistance with federal, state, and internal audits.
Support asset evaluation and assessment processes and help ensure compliance with applicable external regulatory requirements and internal Bank policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Gather, review, and analyze relevant account information from available sources and coordinate with related internal divisions to develop well-supported assessments of borrowers' financial condition and ability to meet their debt obligations.
Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant industries and market developments to strengthen the quality of credit analysis and portfolio risk assessment.
Proactively coordinate with execution teams and the Loan Transaction Unit to support the appropriate booking and administration of newly assigned accounts.
Support the Managing Director/Department Head and Associate/Team Leader with broader credit risk management activities, including on-the-job guidance for junior analysts, coordination with relevant credit and policy divisions, and assistance with internal and external examinations.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the Bank's credit policies, procedures, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
