About The Position

The Analyst, U.S. Policy will support the governance, coordination, and communication of National Grid's corporate policy positions in the United States. The role will focus principally on supporting the U.S. Policy Board and developing a trusted, company-wide source of policy information that helps ensure National Grid speaks with one informed voice on active and emerging policy issues. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to policy, regulatory, and advocacy activities across National Grid's U.S. businesses, while working closely with stakeholders from across the organization. The successful candidate will help bring process, order, and organization to a complex internal stakeholder environment by coordinating policy information, supporting governance processes, and improving how policy positions are developed, maintained, and communicated. The Analyst will regularly support the development of materials for senior leadership and executive governance forums, providing direct exposure to strategic policy discussions and company decision-making. Combining project management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and analytical skills, the role provides a rare organization-wide perspective on how policy priorities are shaped, governed, and advanced across National Grid's U.S. operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, economics, energy policy, business, communications, information management, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, government affairs, strategy, business analysis, consulting, project management, knowledge management, or a related field; or an advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Exceptional organizational and process-management skills, with the ability to bring structure, discipline, and clarity to complex work involving multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Strong initiative and sound judgment, including the ability to work effectively with limited direction, take ownership of day-to-day responsibilities, and proactively advance work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, gather information, coordinate contributions, and communicate effectively across teams and organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information and translate it into clear, practical insights.
  • A collaborative working style, high emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and a demonstrated willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital collaboration, knowledge management, data analysis, automation, or AI-enabled tools, including Microsoft Copilot, SharePoint, or Power Apps, is desirable but not required.
  • Experience or academic knowledge related to energy, electricity, public policy, regulation, utilities, infrastructure, government, or another regulated sector is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the governance and effective operation of the U.S. Policy Board, including coordinating stakeholders, organizing meeting materials, tracking decisions and actions, and ensuring timely follow-through.
  • Maintain and continuously improve an accurate, accessible, and trusted source of National Grid’s U.S. policy positions and supporting information.
  • Establish and manage clear, practical processes for gathering, organizing, validating, and maintaining policy information across a large and complex network of internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate across business units and functions to identify emerging policy issues, policy gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for policy development or alignment.
  • Prepare concise, high-quality briefings, presentations, recommendations, and other materials that translate complex policy matters into clear and actionable information for senior leaders and cross-functional audiences.
  • Manage projects and competing priorities with a high degree of organization, initiative, and attention to detail, while identifying opportunities to improve policy governance, information sharing, and team effectiveness.
