About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations Management, the Analyst / Senior Analyst, Private Markets Operations plays a pivotal role in IAGAM’s operations team. This role requires a high level of expertise and proficiency in private financial markets, which includes private equity and infrastructure funds, as well as securitization and fund unit processes. Additionally, the ability to play an influential role and be able to prioritize a multi function team in meeting the ongoing operational needs of the investment team is crucial for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Has 2 to 5+ years of experience in investment operations or accounting.
  • Holds a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting.
  • Has experience with operational activities related to private placements and fund unit transactions, including a solid understanding of private markets, market practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Is recognized for their attention to detail, initiative, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data and financial statements.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of financial markets and/or wealth management.
  • Is recognized for their solid knowledge of investment products and financial concepts.
  • Is proficient in French and has an advanced level of English, as the role requires daily communication with internal and external stakeholders located across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Perform post-trade activities and life cycle events related to private placements, fund units and other illiquid assets. These activities include, among others, initial subscriptions, capital calls, interests, settlements, and cash operations.
  • Work closely with other investment operations team members to solve complex problems in a timely manner.
  • Carry out the various operational stages of private placement acquisitions by involving and coordinating activities between all parties (trading desk, portfolio managers, external lawyers, trustee, borrowers and the private placement team).
  • Support our internal private placement managers (requests, follow-ups, etc.).
  • Maintain good data quality in our systems to meet the needs of our stakeholders.
  • Answer questions from our custodian regarding day-to-day operations.
  • Review priorities and ensure that operational deadlines are always met.
  • Participate in the implementation of monitoring processes that are standardized and supported by proper controls.
  • Actively participate in the optimization and scalability of our oversight and reporting processes and tools. Understand, interpret, and confidently navigate fund level legal terms, definitions, and entity structure concepts.
  • Implement and execute best practices, ensuring consistent policies, procedures, proper controls, and improved reporting efficiency.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and industry standards impacting client reporting.
  • Liaise with various teams on all financial reporting aspects, including oversight and/or understanding of major accounting policies and financial reporting impacts.
  • Liaise and manage third-party service providers and fund administrators, as appropriate.
