About The Position

The Analyst or Senior Analyst, Commercial Operations (Planning) is a pivotal role within the Commercial Operations team. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining an efficient vessel schedule and risk-adjusted inventory positions in a very dynamic operational environment. The role is highly cross-functional and requires frequent and significant interaction with the Terminal Operations and Marine departments and the team that manages Cheniere’s SPAs. The Analyst or Senior Analyst will ensure proper, accurate, and timely evaluation of cargo nominations and scheduling requests and drive the cross-functional execution thereof. The successful candidate identifies and continuously reevaluates schedule-driven risks and independently develops solutions or mitigating actions. The contractual requirements related to vessels calling at both of Cheniere’s LNG facilities and Cheniere’s Commercial goals are to be met while maintaining compliance with all Cheniere’s values and without yielding on high safety related standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Engineering, or Business is preferred but not required. Additional experience is required in lieu of a degree.
  • Analyst: 3+ years’ experience working in a commercial or operational capacity in the energy commodities industry. LNG experience is preferred but not required
  • Senior Analyst: 5+ years’ experience working in a commercial or operational capacity in the energy commodities industry. LNG experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of scenario analysis as it relates to assessment of schedule risk is required.
  • Working knowledge of Sale and Purchase Agreements’ contractual language, especially Notice of Readiness, demurrage, and laytime provisions, and the terminology associated with commercial commodities is required.
  • Organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple activities and programs in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to independently identify and address and, if needed, escalate critical issues.
  • Ability to work effectively on short notice and off hours.
  • Energetic; adeptly work under pressure.
  • Strong and effective communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal), also with individuals and groups from different disciplines.
  • Ownership of and follow-through on commitments, with a demonstrated ability and desire to continuously improve.
  • Competent with everyday use of common office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • A working practical knowledge of operations within an LNG facility is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of dynamic schedule development and terminal/marine operations (scheduling, shipping, cargo transfer, and applicable Coast Guard and marine regulations).
  • Advanced Excel skills and exposure to other scheduling systems are desired.
  • Experience with PI, Logbooks, QLNG, Endur, CLNG, CMAS, Kpler, Marine Connect, and/or Sharepoint is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the development, execution and continuous optimization of an integrated schedule for LNG offtake from the Sabine Pass and/or Corpus Christi facilities and timely communicate identified risk and scheduled changes with the Commercial team and all relevant parties across multiple facilities and business groups.
  • Stay up to date in real time with estimated times of arrival for vessels, vessel inspections, terminal or vessel deficiencies, weather forecasts, and all cargo schedule changes.
  • Coordinate and proactively engage with the Marine and Production Engineering teams to monitor and manage projected inventory levels, production forecasts/actuals, outage planning, cargo lifting details, and berth utilization.
  • Gather and consolidate information on operational constraints and risks for vessels and terminals and facilitate the synthesis of the information in line with the contractual obligations.
  • Acquire and evaluate feedback within the Commercial group and the terminals on schedule improvements to increase the schedule efficiency and resilience.
  • Create, prepare, and distribute daily reports and communications to enable and drive accurate real time decision making by all stakeholders.
  • Reliably deliver a schedule which minimizes both operational and commercial delivery risks.
  • Update and maintain relevant commercial reporting tools and reporting systems.
