Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected. Travel is minimal (less than 10%). The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. The department is committed to maintaining integrity and recognizing the company's successes, ensuring that BNSF remains a leader in the railway industry. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.

Requirements

• Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Nice To Haves

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Working knowledge of SAP
• Experience in public accounting

Responsibilities

• Coordinating monthly close process and applying GAAP to financial transactions
• Verifying accuracy of financial statements
• Preparing various journal entries and account reconciliations on a monthly basis
• Compiling monthly financial statement packet to Berkshire Hathaway
• Compiling, reviewing, and reconciling of internal and external reporting packages for the SEC, STB, and AAR
• Developing appropriate annual plans and monthly forecasts
• Reviewing the reconciliation of intercompany accounts and researching technical accounting guidance
