Entergy's Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities. The Project Costs Analyst will support Entergy’s Power Generation Budget Planning and Risk Management Team and Finance Business Partners, while being solely responsible for providing both Capital and O&M project controls oversight and forecasting support. This position will report into the Commercial Asset Management group that sits under the newly created Smart Operations Center in Power Generation located in The Woodlands, Texas. The center includes among other areas, remote operations, plant monitoring, analytics, and asset management for various existing and future resources around the fleet. The analyst will serve as the main point of contact for Plant leadership, Project Managers, Finance and Generation leadership for project life cycle management.

Requirements

  • Analyst I: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field.
  • Analyst II: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, a relevant field, and 2+ years of business experience in banking, finance, or project development is required or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of business experience in banking, finance, or project development is required.
  • Analyst III: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, a relevant field, and 4+ years of business experience in banking, finance, or project development is required or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of business experience in banking, finance, or project development is required.
  • Lead Analyst: Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, a relevant field, and 5+ years of business experience in banking, finance, or project development is required or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of business experience in banking, finance, or project development is required
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with Financial Reporting Software.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision or within a team environment.
  • Ability to analyze problems and create solutions.
  • Knowledge of financial theory and valuation.
  • Ability to learn Entergy’s accounting policies, including the Capital Approval Policy and Entergy’s System Approval Policy.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple time sensitive projects effectively.
  • Effective communication to interact with personnel at all levels of organization.
  • Openness and willingness to explore alternative approaches and a willingness to drive change as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Power Bi or similar visualization tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally and develop strong relationships with colleagues at the plant level to gather information vital to the successful completion of project controls management.
  • Communicate with Finance Business Partners and Property Accounting to better understand direct and indirect costs and capital versus O&M determinations to facilitate project set up estimations and authorized spend levels.
  • Develop indirect costs estimates for projects capital project proposals by utilizing Entergy’s financial cost estimating tool.
  • Understanding and working in applicable project management and accounting systems.
  • Execute applicable sections of Entergy’s System Approval Policy and Entergy Capital Approval Policy.
  • Understanding of Power Generation’s budget planning and risk management process to ensure projects are appropriately funded in the financial plan.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks and execute deliverables in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve performance.
  • Possess a strong desire and willingness to support the Budget Planning and Risk Management team, plants and Financial Business Partners beyond core responsibilities.
