About The Position

The Department of Health (DOH) is seeking a dynamic, creative individual to fill a key Analyst/Programmer 4 position. As the Analyst Programmer 4, you will primarily utilize the Microsoft .NET technology stack and SQL Server. Your experience and responsibilities will include strong SQL Server skills, the ability to manage rapidly changing priorities, strong analytical skills, and outstanding written and oral communication skills. We are looking for a capable teammate willing to grow and learn as they meet the goals of our organization. The mission of the Department of Health is "to promote and protect the health and well-being of Alaskans”. The Division of Departmental Support Services (DSS) provides financial, administrative, facilities, and technology services to the department.

Requirements

  • Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language.
  • One year of this experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for designing, developing, and testing software in a given environment.
  • Knowledge of software engineering design and development methodologies, paradigms, and tools; the software life cycle; software reusability; and software reliability metrics.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures to protect information systems and data by ensuring their availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Effectively applies technical knowledge to solve a range of problems; develops technical solutions to new or highly complex problems that cannot be solved using existing methods or approaches; is sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in the technical area.
  • Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to use the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN).
  • Must be an Alaskan Resident.
