About The Position

The DCM Analyst / Associate will support the origination, structuring, and execution of primarily investment grade debt transactions, by combining deep industry sector expertise, innovative thinking in a team-based approach and superior execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform using a sector ecosystem approach. Collaborates to generate creative, client-focused solutions to current and prospective clients. Participate in deal teams to develop, present, and win mandates for new opportunities. Create and present DCM materials for clients, offering tailored and bespoke financing solutions. Conduct due diligence (e.g. client visits, business model analysis, and comprehensively reviewing industry trends and related regulations). Analyze issuer capital structures, monitor market dynamics, and conduct peer analysis. Create and utilize financial models to analyze and anticipate client needs, as well as support strategic recommendations to clients. Apply appropriate technical concepts and completes/leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables. Support the execution of transactions and strategic initiatives by collaborating cross-functionally with both internal and external stakeholders. Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders to ensure alignment. Assist in transaction approvals, drafting offering documentation, and execution logistics. Support roadshow logistics, including identifying key investors, preparing investor presentations and roadshow materials, and assisting with scheduling considerations. Act as a key point of coordination across coverage teams, corporate banking, syndicate, sales, legal, compliance, and operations. Continually monitor client relationships to progress toward increasing client responsibility. Identify opportunities to diversify client portfolios, increase efficiency, and further improve services provided to internal and external clients. Monitor client, industry, and regulatory agencies for potential changes that may affect client portfolio and business needs. Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations. Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. Consider risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures. Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Requirements

  • Typically between 1 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement.
  • 1+ years of investment banking or capital markets experience at a financial analyst level.
  • Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations.
  • Credit analysis experience/ understanding.
  • Good knowledge of the organizational portfolio management policies and objectives.
  • Demonstrates solid deal/transaction execution and/or project management skills.
  • Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics, financial modeling and credit analysis skills.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
