About The Position

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. CHAI works with governments and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems. CHAI's China Country Team focuses on building healthier global marketplaces to ensure the sustainable supply of vital medical commodities by applying CHAI's global market-shaping approaches in China. The program identifies and evaluates health product suppliers for low- and middle-income country markets, including pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tools, devices, vaccines, vector control tools, and assistive technologies. The team also designs, negotiates, and supports market-shaping interventions to increase access to critical health commodities, such as pooled procurement, coordinated ordering, strategic demand forecasting, volume guarantees, and advance market commitments. The team collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the public health impact of interventions involving China-based suppliers and shares market intelligence and demand information to improve the availability and affordability of essential health products worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree in the field of public health, biology, economics, finance, political science, engineering, or other related fields
  • A minimum of 2–4 years of full-time work experience in international organizations, the pharmaceutical industry, the healthcare industry, management consulting, financial services, market research and/or similar professional functions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and AI tools
  • Strong quantitative analysis, market analysis, and financial analysis skills; comfortable with Excel-based modelling and generating evidence for data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for different audiences (e.g. technical teams, donors, senior leadership)
  • Professional proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese (speaking, reading, and writing) is required
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively across a small, fast-paced team, with a strong willingness to learn about new fields and take on diverse tasks
  • Ability to work proactively and independently without extensive structural or operational support
  • Familiar with and productive in remote-working settings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working or living in China
  • Experience collaborating with global, cross-cultural teams is preferred
  • Prior exposure to international organizations or multinational teams is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead market landscaping and competitive analysis (e.g. product pipelines, registration status, pricing, market share etc.) across assigned health sector program areas (lead poisoning, neonatal health, nutrition, malaria, diagnostics etc.)
  • Develop multi-country demand forecasts and financial analysis to inform market access strategies
  • Lead research and analysis on regulatory policies (e.g. registration pathways across Stringent Regulatory Authorities and African national regulatory bodies, WHO prequalification mechanisms) relevant to assigned health product areas
  • Develop high-quality market analysis, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Support design and execution of relevant market-shaping interventions
  • Manage supplier engagement, including primary research (e.g. site visits, industry conferences, expert interviews) to assess specific suppliers' capabilities, quality systems, and fit for partnership
  • Manage project execution
  • Closely coordinate and work with CHAI global team members across different disease programs and various LMIC countries offices
  • Other responsibilities as needed
