About The Position

Scout Motors is looking to hire an Analyst, Logistics Material Flow Engineer to join their team. This role will be integrated into the Inhouse planning team, focusing on assembly process optimization, manual and automated processes management, supermarket strategy, change management, manufacturing execution systems (MES), route traffic management, compliance and safety, and performance analysis. The position is based in Blythewood, South Carolina, and requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with potential for occasional travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent amount of relevant work experience may be required in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing or assembly process coordination, including manual (tugger trains, forklifts) and automated (AGVs) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of VDA, ISO, and other automotive industry standards; experience conducting process audits is required.
  • Proven expertise in change management, including evaluating and steering change requests in automotive environments.
  • Experience with route optimization and traffic management tools/software (e.g., TMS, WMS), JIS logistics, and material flow planning.
  • In-depth understanding of compliance requirements, including safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on process optimization.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
  • Experience managing supplier selection for equipment.
  • Skilled in coordinating implementations in alignment with SOP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support in maintaining and improving assembly and logistics processes to ensure seamless material flow and efficient production operations.
  • Focus on supporting the development and optimization of processes that meet high-speed assembly requirements and on-time delivery goals.
  • Plan the use of manual material handling equipment (e.g., tugger trains, forklifts) and design effective picking and kitting operations.
  • Ensure alignment with assembly schedules to support smooth material movement and on-time delivery.
  • Implement and manage Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems and select suitable in-house logistics equipment to automate material transport.
  • Integrate AGV solutions into existing workflows to boost efficiency and reduce dependency on manual handling.
  • Contribute to the design and development of supermarket areas for in-house sequenced parts to support streamlined logistics and assembly operations.
  • Apply change management principles to drive operational improvements and optimize resource allocation.
  • Evaluate and steer change requests to ensure strategic alignment and cost-effectiveness.
  • Use MES software to monitor and manage production processes, enabling real-time tracking and resource optimization.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation strategies for efficient route traffic within the production facility.
  • Use traffic management tools/software to plan, monitor, and optimize material flow, including contingency planning for potential disruptions.
  • Ensure all manual and automated processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Enforce adherence to internal policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and logistics teams to resolve issues related to assembly, material handling, and traffic management.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics for both manual and automated processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
