About The Position

The Ontario Energy Board is seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join their team as an Analyst, Innovation & Emerging Opportunities. This role offers intellectually challenging work in a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and creativity. The Analyst will support Senior Advisors and Advisors on strategic initiatives related to the efficient integration of distributed energy resources, the development of new rate frameworks, and establishing and supporting sector partnerships. The role involves research and analysis, drafting written materials, project management, and supporting stakeholder engagement. The Analyst will assist in collaborating with stakeholders, leading consultations, and developing policy recommendations for a changing energy sector.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Commerce, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3 years’ experience working in strategic policy or energy policy development.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills to plan, prioritize, and organize work in an accurate and detailed manner.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • A graduate degree or professional designation is preferred.
  • Experience working within a regulated industry, regulatory body and/or public utility is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the energy sector in Ontario and other jurisdictions to ensure awareness of key policy developments
  • Identify trends and events that could have significant policy implications for Ontario's energy sector
  • Research and analyze issues relating to innovation, new technologies, rates frameworks and distributed energy resources
  • Assist in the development of policy recommendations by conducting research, preparing briefing notes, and analyzing data
  • Assist in the development of workplans to support the work of internal multi-stakeholder teams
  • Support stakeholder consultations, meetings, and working groups to gather emerging trend information and identify issues
  • Record and consolidate stakeholder feedback for use in the development of policy options and recommendations
  • Work with Public Affairs to develop and maintain stakeholder engagement platforms and communication materials related to Strategic Policy initiatives
  • Work closely with other departments on technical and administrative projects
