The City of San José’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) is seeking individuals to join a team dedicated to "Building Community Through Fun" and making San José a better place to live and visit. PRNS's mission is to connect people through parks, recreation, and neighborhood services for an active San José. Their strategic work plan, ActivateSJ, focuses on establishing healthy communities that inspire belonging through stewardship, nature, equity & access, identity, and public life. The department manages numerous public spaces including community centers, regional and neighborhood parks, Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, and trails, while offering diverse programming for all ages and abilities. The Community Services Division (CSD) empowers residents, schools, and organizations to enhance the city's livability, safety, and cleanliness. CSD includes BeautifySJ, Grantmaking for Community Impact, and Youth Intervention Services, with a significant operating budget and a large team. The Grantmaking for Community Impact (GCI) Team specifically focuses on strategically investing public resources to improve resident well-being by managing the entire lifecycle of competitive grant programs. This includes program design, funding strategy, procurement, contract management, performance monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The GCI Team oversees millions in annual grant funding for various community priorities and ensures public investments are transparent, equitable, data-informed, and aligned with city goals.
