To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing The Analyst candidate for the Global Trading Credit provides counterparty credit analysis for non-bank financial institutions working closely alongside a senior member of the team. The team manages the credit relationships for a portfolio of complex, demanding accounts, often involving a high level of profile within the Bank in a variety of industry segments. The role is located within the non-bank financial institutions section, which includes broker-dealers, asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds, private capital and insurance companies domiciled in the US including Prime Brokerage. Requirements

  • Strong undergraduate (business) degree required and 1-3years related experience.
  • Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation. Approach to the workplace that is based on open communication and a team atmosphere
  • Broad working knowledge of derivatives and other trading floor products preferred
  • Understanding of the credit risks associated with trading floor business products preferred
  • Solid understanding of specific industry, including fundamental market factors, and capital markets activity and influences
  • Sophisticated analytical skills including extensive experience in analyzing financial statements in order to assess credit risks
  • Ability to research and monitor large volumes of information from various sources, gather data and perform analyses on an ongoing basis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate complicated concepts and financial data to senior management
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple and sometimes conflicting demands and time constraints.
  • Excellent adaptability and flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment
  • Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong Excel skills are a must
  • This job must effectively foster client relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with CIBC World Markets marketers/traders, and respond quickly to requests for credit requests from the trading floor
  • This job supports senior bankers with regard to activities of many parties

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate degrees and/or certifications, such as a CFA, MBA are viewed favorably, but are not essential
  • Financial modeling experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide a broad range of analytical and research support to all the professionals within the Global Trading Credit Team located in New York
  • Complete specific tasks including financial statement and data analysis, financial modeling and industry research. Analyst/Associates develop their skills through on the job training, mentoring and industry training
  • Build and maintain relationships with CIBC World Markets marketers/traders, and responds quickly to requests for credit facilities from the trading floor
  • Assist in the on-going monitoring of credit quality and global credit exposure of the portfolio by remaining current with counterparty’s financial condition, industry and economic trends
  • Appropriately identify any relevant changes in the financial condition/business of a client
  • Assist with due diligence activities and supports senior members on the team with regard to activities of many parties, including Legal and Documentation
  • Provide sound, timely, and well-communicated recommendations for credit facilities supported by a thorough analysis and well-executed interpretation of relevant financial, industry, business, and market information
  • Ensure that the portfolio meets with appropriate risk management guidelines and remains current with the changing methodologies

  • This role has an expected salary range of $115,000-$135,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.
  • The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
