About The Position

RBC Capital Markets is seeking an Analyst to join its Indigenous Advisory and Finance Practice in Toronto. RBC Capital Markets’ Indigenous Advisory & Finance Practice aims to expand access to capital for new and existing Indigenous-owned major projects through advisory services, financing and capacity-building initiatives, while mitigating reputational and financial risks. The practice works in collaboration with RBC Origins as well as Commercial Banking and Wealth Management to support Indigenous communities and corporate clients across key sectors of the economy. The Indigenous Advisory and Finance Analyst will sit within RBC Capital Markets’ Sustainable Finance Group, alongside a centralized team of subject matter experts delivering integrated sustainability advice and innovative financial solutions to Capital Markets clients. The Sustainable Finance Group works in close collaboration with Corporate and Investment Banking coverage officers and Sales and Trading professionals to help clients navigate the transition to a lower-carbon, more resilient economy. This role offers exposure to both practices, providing a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainable finance and Indigenous economic participation.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a quantitative field from a leading university
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment

Nice To Haves

  • CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designations are considered an asset, but not a requirement
  • 1-2 years of investment banking, private equity, equity research, M&A / corporate development or accounting experience an asset, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of clients, including developing financial models
  • Support transaction structuring and execution efforts, with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
  • Financial and written analysis of companies and industries
  • Contributing to the delivery of client meetings and presentations
  • Research and analyze market trends, including developments in sustainable finance, energy transition, and Indigenous economic participation
  • Contribute to the execution of equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory assignments
  • Assist in the development of thought leadership, events, and client-facing materials on sustainable finance and Indigenous finance topics
