About The Position

The Global Investment Banking division offers underwriting for equity and debt capital, along with M&A advisory services. RBC Capital Markets is recognized as Canada's leading investment bank, with a client-focused approach and a global presence across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) within Global Investment Banking in Toronto is seeking an Analyst. FIG is a market leader in Canada for advisory and capital markets financing, covering sectors such as Insurance, Banking & Lending, Asset & Wealth Management, Consumer & Specialty Finance, and FinTech. The group handles M&A, strategic alternatives, capital structure advisory, and equity/debt financings. The Analyst role will involve collaborating with product and coverage partners globally to provide client advice, develop financial skills, and gain exposure to global capital markets. This position is designed for individuals aiming for a long-term career in Investment Banking with a leading franchise.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of investment banking, private equity, equity research, corporate development or advisory experience
  • Undergraduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a quantitative field from a leading university
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Value and possess strong competency in the following behaviours: Collaboration, Relationship Building, Communication, Integrity and Operating with Diverse and Inclusive Mindset

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and analyzing the financial needs of corporate clients, including developing and maintaining complex financial models
  • Supporting transaction structuring and execution efforts, with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
  • Financial and written analysis of companies and industries
  • Contributing to the delivery of client meetings and presentations
  • Conducting research to analyze market trends
  • Researching and analyzing future opportunities
  • Contributing to the execution of mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory assignments, and equity and debt financings
