About The Position

The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst assists the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, in understanding cost components and developing presentations for senior management. The Analyst participates in monthly, quarterly, and annual variance reviews, as well as long-term financial management, strategic initiatives, and competitive analysis. The role also supports ad hoc analyses as needed. The Analyst helps forecast, budget, and oversee a business unit; works with Accounting and business units to align forecasts with actuals; and provides analytics and financial modeling to generate business insights. The role develops and maintains models, forecasts, and databases, supports investment decision analysis, and collaborates with cost center leaders and teams across JetBlue. The position is based in a traditional office environment in Long Island City, New York.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED and at least four years of relevant work experience demonstrating the capability to perform the job responsibilities.
Two years of finance and/or analytical experience.
Experience with or basic understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency with Word and other Microsoft Office products.
Demonstrated Excel and financial modeling skills, assessed through a live work sample during the hiring process.
Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
Availability for occasional overnight travel (10%).
Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Must be legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located; U.S. work authorization is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
Regular attendance and punctuality.
Potential need to work flexible hours and respond on short notice.
Ability to maintain a professional appearance.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Responsibilities

Assist the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, with forecasting, budgeting, and oversight of a business unit.
Collaborate with Accounting and business units to ensure forecasts are accurately aligned with actuals.
Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual presentations for senior departmental leaders.
Provide data analytics and financial modeling that generate business insights.
Create models to highlight trends within the business and airline industry.
Collaborate with others to provide strategic guidance and business decision support to cost center leaders through financial analysis, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Assess the impact of investment decisions on departmental and company-wide financials.
Update and improve current financial models and databases, including short- and long-term forecasts.
Partner and communicate effectively with different groups and organizational levels across JetBlue.
Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Promote JetBlue’s safety value and support its Safety Management System, Safety Policy, and behavioral standards.
Identify and report safety or security concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards.
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, assist with light aircraft cleaning if capable and time permits.
