About The Position

Toyota’s People & Property Services Department is looking for a passionate, highly-motivated, and adaptable Analyst – Dock Operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to anchor daily logistics operations for our Research & Development (R&D) teams and other teams and locations as needed. Because R&D thrives on innovation, no two days are the same. You will frequently navigate non-standard, complex, and urgent requests, ensuring customer demands are met while driving short- and long-term projects focused on safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Manager- People & Property Services, the person in this role will act as a proactive problem-solver for the Dock Operations department. Your objective is to anticipate operational bottlenecks, resolve unique logistical challenges, and continuously improve daily operations while monitoring progress toward key KPI targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field (or 5+ years of equivalent work experience)
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, developing creative proposals, reports, and visual workflows to solve both standard and highly complex, non-standard logistics challenges
  • Experience collaborating with Hazmat Compliance and Trade Compliance departments to support hazmat and export shipments
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer-first mindset
  • Experience interacting with all levels of leadership, including preparing and delivering reports to the Executive level

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working in a fast-paced Research & Development (R&D) environment.
  • Hazmat multi-modal certification.
  • Experience collaborating with TMNA Hazmat and TMNA Trade Compliance departments to support specialized hazmat and export shipments
  • JKK training and practical application, as well as Toyota Business Practice (TBP) completion through panel.
  • Working knowledge of the Toyota Misc. Shipping Request System (MSRS).
  • Familiarity with and utilization of available AI tools to optimize logistics and reporting processes

Responsibilities

  • Manage Complex Operations: Provide operational oversight and direction to on-site third-party business partners handling shipping, receiving, hazmat, and export operations across R&D locations in MI and CA, as well as other teams and locations as needed
  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Act as the primary logistics liaison for Toyota business units (BUs) and external vendors. You will provide conflict resolution and creative problem-solving for abnormal R&D requests to ensure operational schedules and budget targets are met
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Champion Kaizen (continuous improvement) projects, develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both routine and non-standard processes, and report on key performance indicators
  • Champion the Toyota Way: Implement Toyota Production System (TPS) principles into daily workflows and actively mentor and develop our on-site business partners
  • Strategic Planning: Lead short-term daily operational planning (6-12 months) to support the seamless execution of broader logistics strategies
