About The Position

CDS is Canada’s national securities depository, clearing and settlement hub for domestic and cross-border depository-eligible securities. We support Canada’s equity, fixed income, and money markets by ensuring the safe custody of securities, processing post-trade transactions, and managing entitlement distributions. In this pivotal role, you will execute time-sensitive, risk-critical processes that underpin the stability of Canada’s financial markets. You will manage the accuracy and integrity of collateral, cash, and settlement flows across multiple payment systems, including the Bank of Canada’s Lynx system and U.S. Fedwire, operating with precision in a high-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Post‑secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in securities operations or financial‑market operations.
  • Solid understanding of settlement processes or securities accounting.
  • Experience with domestic and cross‑border wire payments, including initiation and approval workflows.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve operational issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging participants and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage time‑sensitive tasks with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and operational banking platforms.

  • Familiarity with collateral management, liquidity operations, or clearing/settlement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for participants, monitoring the sufficiency, eligibility, and timely fulfillment of collateral requirements.
  • Execute daily collateral processes supporting CDS’s risk-management framework, validate issuer credit ratings, and ensure accurate application of valuation rules.
  • Perform end-to-end cash reconciliation with CAD and USD bank accounts across all CDS banking partners to ensure exception-free reporting.
  • Execute and monitor high-risk, high-value payment flows through the Bank of Canada Lynx system and U.S. Fedwire.
  • Ensure the timely completion of end-of-day payment exchanges and liquidity-related processes.
  • Execute CNS Buy-ins and other time-sensitive settlement activities within strict regulatory and operational deadlines.
  • Maintain strict adherence to internal controls, procedures, and PFMI-aligned operational standards during internal/external audits and regulatory testing.
  • Build and maintain detailed operational procedures, propose process improvements, and provide backup support for the Banking Analyst.
  • Support operations on Canadian holidays when U.S. markets remain open.
