About The Position

This position exists to perform professional accounting duties in the financial operations of the school district.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in finance-related field preferred.
  • Considerable experience in governmental accounting and/or auditing preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiar with the district's budgeting procedures for the various funds.
  • Ability to work with other departments in grant development and budgeting.
  • Ability to support other staff assigned to this function.
  • Knowledge of school finance laws, rules, and policies relative to various grants under control of this position.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Products and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) packages needed to produce automated reports to DOE for monthly federal reports and year-end financial reports.
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the functions of financial accounting, budget control, and financial reporting.
  • Reviews transactions for proper classification and advises of needed budget changes.
  • Maintains records in order to prepare required monthly reports related to grants that have been obtained by the district.
  • Assists in the preparation of the district budget and financial reports for use by local, state and federal administrators and agencies.
  • Assists in preparation of entries necessary to post accounting transactions and adjust or close the records at month and/or year end.
  • Assists in banking activities by preparing the monthly cash advance request for federal projects.
  • Assists in the development of policies related to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
