About The Position

This role is for an Analyst/Associate on the Credit Transaction Management team, supporting the growth of the lending portfolio within the Global Corporate Banking division of RBC Capital Markets. The position involves managing a portfolio of clients and collaborating with various internal groups to deliver credit and banking services. The level of the role (Analyst or Associate) will depend on the candidate's background and skills.

Requirements

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or any other problem-solving field.
• One to five years of work experience in a related field, including banking or corporate lending experience, finance and/or risk management, or knowledge of structuring and writing of NBFI credit proposals, credit processes, and policies.
• Highly motivated self-starter with keen attention to detail and strong interest in NBFI finance and credit.
• Ability to read and understand complex legal documents related to NBFI transactions, including loan agreements, security documents, and property-related agreements.
• Strong credit and analytical skills, including the ability to critically assess financial statements, property valuations, market analyses, and other client reports to draw reasoned conclusions and recommend a course of action.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage conflicting demands and viewpoints and multiple stakeholder expectations.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact well at all levels within a large organization.
• Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
• Strong general PC skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

• An MBA, CPA, or CFA or other post-graduate degrees with a focus in business, accounting, economics, or mathematics.
• Proficiency in financial modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned portfolio of clients and borrowers, including administration.
• Understand, measure, and manage the risk and reward of credit decisions within approved risk appetite for banking book business.
• Foster relationships with key internal stakeholders such as Corporate Banking (CB), Group Risk Management (GRM), Global Markets (GM), Global Loans Administration (GLA), and Global Banking Service Centre (GBSC) to support the loan book and trading business.
• Provide credit underwriting for various credit transactions and present deals in the credit adjudication process.
• Write transaction memos for credit committees.
• Conduct financial analysis, including review of financial statements, borrowing bases, cash flow projections, structures, key terms, and industry trends for new credit, refinancings, renewals/extensions, covenant amendments/waivers, and other minor amendments.
• Coordinate with internal partners (GRM, KYC, and Funding and Lending Services) for timely closings.
• Review and approve specific drawdown requests.
• Develop expertise in the assigned portfolio, policies, and guidelines, providing value-added advice.
• Ensure compliance with Bank Policies.
• Participate in team deliverables for regulatory/audit requests.
• Ensure credit agreement terms are correctly reflected in the Bank’s systems.
• Ensure all credit documentation is accounted for and reviewed in a timely basis (e.g., credit agreements, amendments, waivers, security documents).
• Complete ad-hoc projects and other duties efficiently and effectively to support team demands.
