About The Position

Arlington Community Schools is seeking an AMS Front Desk Clerk for the 26-27 school year. This position is responsible for greeting visitors, providing assistance to students, staff, parents, and visitors, and performing various clerical and secretarial duties. The role requires a professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The Front Desk Clerk will operate in a professional office environment and must maintain consistent and prompt attendance.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient use of computers to include spreadsheet, database and word processing applications.
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by oral and written means.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, good secretarial skills, typing, bookkeeping, use of copy machine, or any office machines used by the individual offices.

Responsibilities

  • Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, and directs or escorts them to the proper person.
  • Provides expertise in public relations work on the telephone and in person, relating well with people.
  • Assists students, staff, parents, and visitors entering the office.
  • Disseminates procedures to parents and school personnel, responds to telephone inquiries, and relays or records messages accurately.
  • Provides secretarial support for the immediate supervisor or any office as directed.
  • Projects a positive image of Arlington Schools at all times.
  • Promotes and implements safety and security measures.
  • Keeps information confidential concerning school business.
  • Follows working instructions as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Performs in a professional manner at all times.
  • Dresses neatly and appropriately for the position held.
  • Assists with record keeping.
  • Assists with receptionist and telephone duties.
  • Assists with dispensing medication to students.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local statutes and regulations, as well as school board policies and administrative regulations.
