About The Position

The New Orleans, LA Office of Modjeski and Masters is seeking an AMPP SENIOR CERTIFIED COATINGS INSPECTOR. This role involves working as part of a team on bridge coating projects, performing Quality Assurance coating inspections, preparing reports, and interacting with contractors and clients. The position also includes assisting in the preparation of coating plans and specifications, reviewing contractor submittals, and conducting coating condition assessments. The role requires the ability to work in a team environment and foster positive relationships between the owner and contractor. Strong English communication skills and proficiency in computer software like Excel, Word, and iPad apps are necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma minimum
  • AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector
  • 5+ years of BRIDGE coating inspection experience.
  • Successful completion of SSPC C-3 “Lead Paint Removal”
  • Successful completion of SSPC C-5 “Lead Paint Removal Refresher” within the last two (2) years.
  • Must be able to pass a security background check for e-RAILSAFE and TWIC.
  • Must be able to pass FRA Random Drug Testing
  • Good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills
  • Computer software skills, such as excel, word and apps on an iPad.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Construction Management or B.S. degree from an ABET Accredited College or University is preferred.
  • AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector will be considered pending ability to acquire AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector within 6 months of employment.
  • Bridge specialty endorsement is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team on bridge coating projects.
  • Perform Quality Assurance coating inspections on bridge painting projects.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports for coating projects for all types and sizes of highway and railroad bridges.
  • Interact with contractors and clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of coating plans and specifications.
  • Assist in review of contractors’ submitters for QC operations, worker qualifications, containment plans, health and safety plans, and paint sampling and testing plans.
  • Conduct coating condition assessments.
  • Foster partnership relationship between the owner and the contractor on bridge coating projects.
