About The Position

This is a non-spieling role that requires a good sense of fun, a desire for customer service and hospitality, and excellent driving skills. The Shuttle Driver will operate a shuttle on the streets of St. Augustine, providing transportation services for concerts, festivals, park-and-ride operations, and other special events on a part-time, as-needed basis. This role demands excellent driving skills, a strong focus on safety, and a positive customer service attitude while operating shuttles on busy public streets during high-traffic events. Shifts primarily occur during evenings, weekends, and special events. The ideal candidate has a great sense of fun, enjoys working with people, and understands the importance of safety and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Valid Florida Class C or higher CDL with passenger endorsement required.
  • Acceptable driving record for past three years.
  • Must pass pre-employment MVR/background check and substance abuse testing.
  • Valid DOT physical required.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length in a safe, competent manner on busy public streets or driving on company property.
  • Ability to work independently over long periods of time within the scope of established rules and regulations.
  • Ability to dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner.
  • Mental attitude required to handle the stress that goes with this job as described.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak clear English in order to communicate with co-workers, general public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel and to complete required paperwork correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Drive in a safe, competent manner a vehicle that is 24 feet to 34 feet in length with passengers on busy public streets multiple times a work shift.
  • Meet and deal with the general public and diverse company employees in a prompt, courteous manner.
  • Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via the radio while maintaining composure in a pleasant, calm, courteous manner.
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatch.
  • Perform an interior and exterior physical inspection of the vehicle daily and accurately complete the departmental documents/forms for inspection.
