This role involves scheduling and performing routine preventative maintenance and services with outside contractors to troubleshoot and repair the ammonia refrigeration system. It also includes performing routine preventative maintenance on HVAC, water heating systems, and boiler/condenser water chemical systems. The position requires daily, weekly, monthly, and/or annual facility and building inspections, along with assigned work orders. You will assist with refrigeration system inspections and maintaining refrigeration logs and records, documenting time, material, and parts. Housekeeping of assigned areas, including the ammonia refrigeration engine room, maintenance shop area, and chemical/parts storage area, is also a responsibility. Timely work order execution based on assigned priority is expected. Operation of forklifts and aerial platforms is required, including completing daily Powered Industrial Truck Inspections to ensure safe operation and reporting concerns to the maintenance manager or shift supervisor. Understanding and following Good Manufacturing Practices, Saputo's food safety, quality programs, and regulatory requirements are essential. Adherence to industry practices, SOPs, LOTO procedures, and other safety guidelines is mandatory. Prompt reporting of all potential quality, food safety, and workplace safety hazards to the management team is required. Attendance and participation in all required training, shift meetings, and committees are necessary. This role may require working weekends and/or holidays based on business needs and task completion timelines. All other duties as assigned will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills.
• Must be able to utilize manufacturer equipment manuals, troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns, and read mechanical drawings.
• Must have the ability to run various computer applications that apply to the department and business to an acceptable degree, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Products, and CMMS program, manufacturing and maintenance software.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.
• Must be able to successfully complete the Basic Ammonia Operator training within 6 months of job assignment.
• Basic Electrical knowledge to include NFPA 70e requirements.
• Able to meet physical demands required for the position (stand, walk, bend, stoop and climb; able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Able to work in cold environments and around moving equipment; good visual acuity with ability to distinguish colors
• Able to operate material handling equipment; perform pump rebuilds, sensor calibrations, PM’s
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• 2 Years associate degree in mechanical or HVAC and /or 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred.
• Familiarity with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems preferred.
• Familiarity with process instrumentation and process drawings, PLC’s preferred.
• CARO or CIRO Certification preferred but not necessary
• HMI/PLC troubleshooting skills
