FINRA•Jersey City, NJ

About The Position

The Principal Investigator is an advanced professional who independently leads and conducts high-risk, complex investigations in the securities industry. The role covers improper use of firm or customer assets—including misappropriation, conversion, unauthorized trading, borrowing and lending to and from customers, forgery and falsification, misuse of firm assets, and fraudulent conversion—and anti-money laundering matters. AML investigations may include testing firms’ AML Compliance Programs for compliance with requirements involving suspicious transaction detection and reporting, customer identification, customer due diligence, and due diligence for correspondent accounts for foreign financial institutions, as well as investigating registered representative misconduct related to illicit finance. The investigator develops and executes risk-based investigative strategies, gathers evidence through document review, data analysis, correspondence, communication, and on-the-record testimony, and prepares clear, accurate, thorough, and persuasive investigative findings, reports, referrals, and recommendations. The role serves as a subject matter expert on relevant trends, typologies, threats, and risks, with familiarity in overlapping AML, fraud, and cyber threat vectors. The investigator collaborates with Enforcement, Examinations, Risk and Intelligence, and other RegOps partners; mentors less experienced staff; and leads or supports initiatives to mitigate risks and threats. The work advances FINRA’s mission of investor protection and market integrity. The position operates in a hybrid work environment with defined in-person presence requirements. Extended hours and some travel may be required. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
