Intel's Automated Superhighway: 'The Heartbeat and Blood Flow of the Fab' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvBB2T8NHzY The Role and Impact As a Manufacturing Systems Software Development Engineer; you will design, develop, test, and debug software solutions for wafer and reticle storage and transportation in a cleanroom environment. Your work will directly enhance factory performance, optimize automated material handling systems (AMHS), and ensure seamless integration of new product introductions into manufacturing environments. This role is crucial to maintaining operational consistency and delivering world-class results across Intel factories. Business Group The Intel Foundry group plays a pivotal role in advancing manufacturing capabilities and operational excellence. Within this team, you will be managing AMHS storage and transportation of wafers and reticles. Your scope involves delivering high performing AMHS operations across Intel Foundry Fabs and Facilities located across two campuses in Gordon Moore Park (Ronler Acres) and Aloha in Oregon. Your work at the Oregon site will be an extension of your global collaboration with other Intel factories, where the team ensures high standards of service and consistency to support Intel's broader mission of innovation and manufacturing leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or in a related STEM field with 3+ yrs of work experience.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or in a related STEM field with 2+ yrs of work experience.
  • 1+ years of experience using Model-Based problem solving techniques.
  • 1+ years of experience with CAD/CAM/CAE - AutoCAD; Solidworks, or similar drafting tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with factory physics with application of theory of constraints.
  • Experience in factory engineering equipment within a fabrication environment.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management and mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in VB scripting and SQL query development for data extraction and analysis.
  • Experience in data visualization methodology and techniques including proven course work or work experience with tools such as SQL; Microsoft PowerBI; PowerApps; Python; Perl scripting or equivalent.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as Log Analyzer and performance tuning for distributed systems.
  • Experience in project management methodologies and tools or equivalent program or project management certifications.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM), design of experiments (DOE), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and project management principles.
  • Experience working in an on-call rotation supporting high-availability systems.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and gauge study analytics, including tools like JMP or Excel Pivot Tables.

Responsibilities

  • Own, Design, develop, test, validate, debug, and sustain software solutions for automated material handling and storage systems for Intel foundry.
  • Work with firmware, drivers, operating systems, database platforms, firewalls, and algorithms to enhance system performance.
  • Support the integration, installation, qualification, and startup of AMHS and manufacturing equipment.
  • Enable automated movement and storage of semiconductor wafers and reticles across our Oregon foundry campuses.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, manage escalations, and drive timely resolution of system events.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Partner with IT services, including Platforms, Networks, and Middleware, to optimize factory operations.
  • Integrate new product introductions into factory environments while maintaining existing systems.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing customers, operations teams, and project stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver automation capabilities.
  • Collaborate with factory engineering equipment teams to ensure seamless functionality in fabrication processes.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours to support critical manufacturing.
  • Working at heights in permit required confined spaces and over long distances in a cleanroom environment.
  • Demonstrated factory business acumen and ability to collaborate effectively work with customers.
