About The Position

UServeUtah is seeking an AmeriCorps Seniors Program Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the Foster Grandparent program in Salt Lake County. The selected individual will be responsible for the daily management of the UServeUtah Foster Grandparent Program in Salt Lake County including training, volunteer placement and ongoing support of volunteers. The coordinator will be actively involved with volunteers, volunteer locations and community organizations and will communicate and coordinate with the Program Manager and other Program Coordinators in different parts of the state. This is a temporary position, anticipated to last approximately until June 30, 2027. The position may be extended based on performance and federal funding availability.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years work experience in public administration, education, community/regional planning, human services or social/behavioral science or undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience working with those over 55 years of age and volunteers a plus.
  • Interest in and energy for volunteerism and community building.
  • Solid organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through in an independent, responsible manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent program in Salt Lake County.
  • Understand program policies and AmeriCorps Seniors administrative requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate selecting, enrolling, orienting, training, recognizing and placing volunteers with community partners.
  • Supervise all volunteers to efficiently develop and carry out activities of the program.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to volunteers including training on the science of reading.
  • Oversee development, training and coordination of partnerships and program activities with local community partners.
  • Develop and maintain close coordinated relationships with volunteer stations, including development of volunteer assignment plans.
  • Assess appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations.
  • Maintain appropriate program and volunteer records and reports in accordance with federal guidelines.
  • Track agreed upon performance measures and coordinate reporting of statistics and outcomes for the program.
  • Market and communicate the AmeriCorps Seniors Program and services to the public.
  • Perform other work duties and responsibilities as required.
