About The Position

AmeriCorps Seniors Coordinator for the Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Portage County. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers an annual salary of $36,000. The coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing senior volunteers, overseeing all program operations and goals for FGP, SCP, and RSVP in Portage County.

Requirements

  • Ability to interact with others, specifically senior population.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including percentages and averages with a calculator.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, manuals, correspondence and general text.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with confidential data.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License, reliable transportation and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and FBI).
  • Two years’ experience in office and/or volunteer management.
  • Customer service experience either through employment or volunteer services.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee FGP, SCP and RSVP operations and goals in assigned counties.
  • Recruit, enroll and train volunteers; ensure all proper documentation is obtained; conduct regular volunteer recruitment and gathering events.
  • Provide appropriate volunteer recognition throughout the year (i.e. birthdays, important life events) and either manage, or co-manage, the planning, implementation and successful execution of annual Americorps Senior recognition event in local counties.
  • Establish and promote volunteer stations; ensure stations comply with grant performance measurements as needed; ensure stations submit reports when scheduled; address any concerns expressed by the station relative to the FGP/SCP/RSVP programs.
  • Collect, update, and maintain volunteer, station and program files, including timely submissions to central office.
  • Collect, submit and process data in compliance with grant requirements.
  • Recruit, train and direct activities of local Advisory Council members in collaboration with other AmeriCorps Seniors staff.
  • Encourage members to participate in National Days of Service (ex: MLK, Patriot Day) and promote national service and National Days of Service in the local community.
  • Develop and maintain community, agency and funder relationships.
  • Identify and communicate new fiscal development sources/funders to ensure adequate funds for program implementation; secure information and paperwork for funding sources as needed; submit data and receive reports as requested; assist Director, Assistant Director and Support Coordinator with information for reports as needed.
  • Promote the program’s mission and needs, to include community outreach, speaking engagements, and marketing through a variety of mediums (i.e. social media, newspaper).
  • Track and submit forms for petty cash, mileage reimbursement, and check requests.
  • Host regular in-service meetings, training and educational opportunities for volunteers.
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures; federal and state requirements; and education, certification and registry requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Provide support for other counties and staff as needed.
  • Travel throughout service counties and state as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
