AmeriCorps Peer Mentor Coach will serve in a Quarter Time (QT) capacity during a 10-month term of service from August 2026 – May 2027. Applicants should possess a sincere interest in empowering youth and a passion for higher education. Applicants should possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and research skills to assist College Possible Texas with providing college completion services to more than 3,000 collegians and improve and build the sustainability and success rate of the program in order to serve a rapidly increasing number of college students and graduates. These members will each serve more than 450 hours to help expand college access for low-income and first-generation students while gaining professional skills and earning an Education Award upon successful completion of term requirements. Together, these individuals will work closely and plan strategically to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner. Peer Mentor coaches will be expected to build and maintain congenial professional relationships internally and externally and will represent College Possible Texas to the public. Successful applicants will possess a sincere interest in helping empower other youth to pursue higher education. AmeriCorps Benefits: a bi-weekly living stipend of $373.21 (pre-tax) an Eli Segal Education Award ($1,956.35) the opportunity to forbear qualified student loans during service NOTE: Mandatory pre-service orientation will take place during the first week of service. Members are also required to meet for staff meetings on a monthly basis. This position will have recurring access to vulnerable populations. In addition, all AmeriCorps members are required to be easily identifiable as AmeriCorps Members. Members must wear the AmeriCorps logo, visibly, daily. In the event of a local, state, or federal disaster declaration, AmeriCorps members may be asked on a volunteer basis or be required by OneStar to activate to assist in disaster response and recovery activities within their communities. This may involve virtual service opportunities or in-person service opportunities. This may include service opportunities outside of the member's standard service hours or in place of their standard service duties. In the event of a large-scale, high needs local, state, or federal disaster, AmeriCorps members may voluntarily or be required by OneStar to deploy to an area outside of their service area to assist in disaster response and recovery activities.
