About The Position

Trinity University’s College Advising Corps program is accepting applications for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. This position is contingent upon continuous funding. Position: College Adviser for Trinity University’s College Advising Corps –multiple openings. The position will remain open until all positions are filled. This position flat rate is dependent on start date with the program. The person selected for this role MUST reside in Texas and have transportation to school site. The College Advisor serve local high schools in San Antonio. Working alongside high school and district staff, the adviser will assist students with college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications to help student realize their dream of attending college. Reports to: Sarah Ramos, Project Director, in conjunction with an on-site liaison at the assigned high school above. The College Advisor will serve at local partnership high school in San Antonio or the surrounding area. Working alongside high school and district staff, the adviser will assist students with college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship applications to help student realize their dream of attending college.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Experience in working in a high school environment in similar role recommended
  • Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for communication, research, and administrative recordkeeping
  • Advisors will be expected to live within the service area and to involve themselves in the surrounding San Antonio community
  • Advisors will need to provide their own transportation to the school site as well as to related events
  • Experience working with high school students preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) candidates preferred but not required
  • Trinity graduates who are the first in their family to graduate from college are highly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to any student or family seeking assistance
  • Organize group events that encourage students and their families to consider, plan for, and apply to colleges and universities
  • Establish productive working relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in the assigned high school
  • Assist in the efforts of other advisers within the service area
  • Assist in the assessment and long-term sustainability of the program
  • Maintain expertise in admissions and financial-aid advising (extensive training will be provided)
